I honestly hold that the simplest way to fix this would be for ladder segments to have exports for whether either side can be climbed on. It is not ideal from a level-editing standpoint, but ultimately I think there are not too many places I think that would have to be manually altered and I can not think of a clean way to implement fixing that automatically :(
